Hives
Hives, or urticaria, is an itchy rash that can emerge quickly. It may consist of many small dots, or can be seen as continuous red spots. Hives can be caused by many different things, such as specific foods, drugs, infection, or insect bite. Some hives are considered allergic, others not. In many cases it is difficult to pinpoint its exact cause. Foods that may cause a reaction are, for example: strawberries, peppers, seafood, and oranges.
Hives triggered by heat is sometimes called prickly heat. These spots usually pass by themselves, or with the aid of a cool bath. Calamine lotion may be soothing on hives. Sometimes, there can be a need for allergy medications when developing severe hives.
